Pink Banana is a vibrant duo that immerses audiences in the lively rhythms of Cuban and Latin Dance Music, evoking the vibrant streets of Havana and the spirited dance floors of Latin America. Their performances inspire spontaneous dancing and also weave soothing, soulful melodies that resonate with positive energy.
Founded by two seasoned musicians and composers well-known in the Dutch/European and international Latin music scenes, Pink Banana features Cuban guitarist/singer/songwriter/pianist Jorge Martínez Galán and Puerto Rican bassist/percussionist Leslie López.
Martínez has collaborated with esteemed groups like The Ballet Folklórico De Oriente and iconic Cuban vocalists like Mayito Rivera and Pío Leyva. López’s impressive credits include performances with Nueva Manteca, Cubop City Big Band, and The New Cool Collective.
Having crossed paths in the Dutch/European salsa circuit two decades ago, Jorge and Leslie share a creative synergy that led them to form Pink Banana. Together, they deliver a repertoire of classic Cuban and Latin American tunes alongside original compositions, featuring vocals, guitar, and the unique Tinconbó percussion instrument. Their infectious passion for this music fuels dynamic and joyful performances, promising an unforgettable musical experience for all.
